Mrs. Jade Alexa Baglio
Jade Alexa Baglio is our head Instructor/Choreographer here at BRDC! Jade grew up in the studio where she has been a member of the competition team and training under the direction of Beverly Richards. Jade is also on faculty at the Dance Carousel (Scituate), The Dance Shop (Holbrook), St. Mary's High School and Marian Division After School Dance Programs (Lynn) and is the Dance and Gymnastics Coordinator of the Peabody Recreational Department. Jade is an active member and serves on the Board of Directors for the Dance Teachers’ Club of Boston Inc. with the American Society, where she is the Co-Chair of Performing Arts. Jade is a guest instructor, teacher, choreographer, and performer for various public schools, private schools, and company's in the Massachusetts area, as well as an adjudicator of performing arts.
Jade is a graduate of Salem State University, where she attained a Bachelor of Science Degree as a Sport and Movement Science Major with a concentration in Dance. While there she received the Creativity Award for her achievements while in the dance program. Jade has co-coordinated, choreographed, and performed for the Salem State University’s Dance Ensemble, which includes faculty and student work. She has had her choreographic work performed and adjudicated at the American College Dance Festival, Shows, along with Regional and National Dance Competitions where her choreography has received many special awards, such as best/most creative choreography and overall high point.
Jade is a certified Para-Educator for the state of Massachusetts and a graduate of the Dance Teachers' Club of Boston, Inc. with the American Society Dance Education Training Course. Jade is also a member of Massachusetts Association for Health, Physical Education, recreation, and Dance, National Dance Education Organization, Massachusetts Dance Education Organization, and the National Honor Society for Dance.
Jade was a featured back up dancer and “Gothic Cheerleader” with Weird Al Yankovic, was a selected performer for Jose’ Mateo’s Ballet Theatre Dance For World Community, and was named Dance Spirit Magazines, "2011 Miss Dance Massachusetts".
Jade gives all of the credit for her continued passion for dance to her students who are always so eager to learn and also find a way to teach her beautiful life lessons in return!
Miss Katharyn Burke
Katharyn (Katie) Burke has been dancing with the Beverly Richards Dance Center for the last 16 years and has been an instructor for the last nine. She is a National Title Holder and has performed at many different events and shows throughout her career at the Beverly Richards Dance Center. As an instructor, Katie specializes in Musical Theater for all ages, and is trained in all genres of dance. . Katie is the Program Director at The Little Gym of Boston in Waltham, where she teaches gymnastics and dance to kids of all ages.
Katie graduated in 2012 from the Dance Teacher's Club of Boston/AS Dance Education Training Program, where she received the Pam Ferry Award for overall excellence in Ballet throughout three years of training and is now an active member of the Dance Teacher's Club of Boston/American Society.
Katie graduated from Emerson College with honors in 2013, where she earned a BA in Visual Media Arts and completed a dance minor. At Emerson, Katie participated as a choreographer in XDance, Emerson's experimental dance show.
Katie strives to always teach the best classes possible, and tries her best to keep her own training up to date, constantly learning new techniques. Katie anticipates spreading her love and passion for dance for many years to come at BRDC.
Miss Amanda Cosgrove
Amanda Cosgrove is in her ninth year as an instructor here at the Beverly Richards Dance Center. Amanda has trained at BRDC for the past fifteen years and has enjoyed every minute of it. Amanda specializes in tap and ballet for the beginner and intermediate levels, along with our pre-school classes. Amanda is a 2012 graduate of Dance Teachers Club of Boston, Inc. with the American Society “Dance Teacher's Education Training Course.” From there she expanded her training and is an active member of the Dance Teachers Club of Boston/AS.
Amanda has worked at the after school program "For Kids Only" and the after school group leader at St. Pius Elementary School in Lynn as a teacher's assistant. . Amanda is a choreographer for the St. Mary's HIgh School and Marian Division Dance Team. She choreographed and performed in the Salem State Dance Ensemble. Her choreography has also been performed at the National level, receiving overall high point placements.
Amanda graduated from Salem State University in 2014 with a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education as well as, Sport and Movement Science with a concentration in Dance, graduating cum laude. She was a member of the Pi Lambda Theta, Gamma Upsilon honor society for education, as well as the National Dance Education Organization. Amanda was also the recipient of the 2014 Presidential Arts Scholarship.
Continuing her love of teaching outside of the studio, Amanda currently works within Boston Public School Systems as an elementary teacher. She has dedicated her time "Literacy Night" at the Horace Mann School in Salem and in a 2nd grade classroom at the James Otis School in East Boston and volunteers at many school events throughout MA.
Teaching of any kind is Amanda's true passion, it is what she lives for!
Mr. Emmanuel Encarnacion
Emmanuel (Manny) Encarnacion has been teaching Musical Theatre, Cheer Gym, and Hip Hop, along with competition technique classes with choreography here at BRDC for the last 6 years. Manny is an active member of the Dance Teachers’ Club of Boston Inc. with the American Society. Since 2012, Manny has been dancing professionally with IMPACT Dance Company and acts as the Rehearsal Director for their Apprentice Company, as well as their Social Media Administrator.
Manny is a guest instructor, choreographer, and performer for numerous dance festivals, studios, and companies within the Greater Boston region, as well as the North and South Shores. Manny has choreographed and performed for multiple rising musical artists.
Manny began his training as a hip-hop dancer at the age of 14 with a performance and competition group, "In The Mak’n", Step Squad and Dance Team, Lynn. While a part of ITM, Manny held the roles of dancer, choreographer, and team captain.
Manny Encarnacion is an alum (2013) from Salem State University with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration and Dance. At SSU, Manny began his training in ballet, contemporary, and modern. In his time at SSU, he performed and choreographed for both the student run dance program, "Repertory Dance Theatre", and the department’s Dance Ensemble concerts. He has been awarded with the Presidential Arts Scholarship, the Creativitve Arts Award, and was selected to perform and have his choreographic work adjudicated at the American College Dance Festival in 2013.
Manny wants to continue his work with young people to encourage them to express themselves in different and unique artistic and creative ways.
Miss Brianna Poirier
"When you feel like you’re losing sight or tough times come your way dance is there to lift you up to heights you couldn't imagine and bring a sense of strength and ease you didn't know you had. It helps convey a message that words couldn't begin to describe, it comes from the soul."
Brianna Poirier is the beginner and intermediate Hip-Hop teacher at Beverly Richards Dance Center. Brianna has been a part of the BRDC family for 17 years where she was a part of the competition team and is a National Title Holder. She has trained in all genres of dance under the direction of Beverly Richards.
Brianna is a graduate from Suffolk University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and plans to pursue a graduate degree in the fall where she hopes to become a school psychologist.
She is preparing to become a member of the Dance Teacher's Club of Boston/American Society and continue her passion for dancing and teaching.
Miss Linnea Thorne
Linnea Thorne found her home at the Beverly Richards Dance Center ten years ago. Linnea has been a full-time competitor with BRDC since 2009 and has received many special awards for her entertaining performances and holds many high point titles. She began assisting classes in 2009. In 2014 she became a Teacher-In-Training and in 2016 has became a full time instructor. Truly showing that BRDC is a place of growth.
In the summer of 2014 Linnea graduated from the Dance Teacher’s Club of Boston Inc./Associated with the American Society Dance Educator's Training Program. Linnea is also a co-instructor for the Peabody Recreational Department under Jade Alexa Baglio. Linnea is also on faculty at The Dance Carousel (Scituate) and St. Mary's High School and Marian Division After School Dance Programs (Lynn) and is a member of National Dance Education Organization.
Linnea is in her final year at Salem State University where she will graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Movement Science with a concentration in Dance. Linnea has performed for the Salem Dance Ensemble and Repertory Dance Theatre through Salem State University, and was the recipiant of the Preseidential Arts Scholarship. In the spring of 2015 Linnea participated in the “I Am Malala” tribute for Salem State’s First Year Experience program. A video of her choreography was displayed on their website and she also received a cash prize due to her creativity.
Linnea is excited to continue dancing with the Connection and to pass on her love and knowledge of dance onto every one around her in the dance world! Linnea gives full credit of her continued love, passion, and emotion of dance to Jade Alexa Baglio!
